Save Bees

Honey beeDid someone move the flowers again?

The page you're looking for isn't here... I do apologize! While you're here, it's something to reflect on: just how often this happens to bees in our modern world.

I've seen so many reports of roadside verges that are abuzz with pollinators, only to have all the plants mowed down mercilessly at a random moment.

If you can encourage your local community to reduce mowing in shared areas, it's such a win for pollinators. If community members do insist on mowing, then they can at least wait until the flowering season is over for most of the plants.

It's often been the case that we feel we need to "tidy" our outdoor areas, however this is coming at a great cost to our pollinators and other wildlife. There certainly are excellent examples of tidy, perfect-for-pollinator plantings. But bees don't just need food, they need homes too, and there are quite a number that use old stems for nesting. The more people refrain from "tidying up" our outdoor areas, the more pollinators we will have ensuring a livable planet going forward!
